Shipton Design Ltd is a multi-disciplined practice that has undertaken all types of design projects for the residential, commercial and public sectors.  We take care with our design, to allow us to get the most of out each situation.  We specialise in high quality residential projects treating each job is treated as a bespoke project.  As a result, each project receives the same attention to detail and level of involvement from the design team. Using their extensive professional experience, they are able to develop designs that meet clients’ practical needs and aspirations while balancing commercial, economic and environmental issues.  We aim to create processes and environments that are simple, straightforward and sublime.  We work to deliver quality and good value.  To do this we find it important to spend time to get to know our clients and the visions that they have for their homes.


Facade Refurbishment in The Cotswolds

The brief for the project was to remove the existing draughty ground floor facade and replace it with a new one that was more in keeping with the village as a whole and was less draughty too! This required the whole of the ground floor facade to be removed and replaced with a new stone construction and new sash and case windows to match.

House Annex in The Cotswolds

The brief was to form a new annex to the existing house to accommodate an elderly client.  In addition to this it was to house three car garages.  Height restrictions were an issue and negotiations with the planning department formed a distinctive design both internally and externally. 

New House in Brooklyn, New York

The brief from the client was to design a new house to fit and extremely tight site in Brooklyn to replace an existing building. The site was to dictate the nature of design that could be used, as it could not affect the neighbouring buildings, but did not have to look the same. As a result, a far more contemporary treatment was agreed upon.

Refurbishment of a house in The Cotswolds

The brief from the client was to remove the roof from the property and build an additional storey, thus increasing the floor space. In addition, the intention was to reconfigure the internal rooms to make better use of the space.

Refurbishment of a Grade 2 Listed building in Gloucestershire

The client brief was to refurbish an existing lean-to attached to the existing house and convert the space into a recreation room and circulation space. In addition to this, the windows were refurbished and brought more in line with the historical status of the building.

Extension to a house in The Cotswolds

The original client brief was to look at a loft conversion within the existing property.  It was quickly realised that the cost that this sort of scheme could incur would be better utilised to form an extension over the existing garage.  An extension was added that was in-keeping with the general look of the property, and at the same time giving a new bedroom and ensuite.

New house in The Cotswolds

The client brief was to form a new four-bedroomed house on a small site.  The house had to be in-keeping with the general style of The Cotswolds and the area.  The specification and construction standard were to be of a high standard for this type of building, and was to incorporate a high standard of architectural design.
